The recent Care Inquiry has highlighted that the care system too often breaks not makes relationships for children in care. Frequent placement moves often result in important relationships being broken and lost needlessly. The care system needs to consider all options, including foster care and all possible options are afforded the same priority in terms of funding. This resonates loudly when the Government drive to increase adoptions is taken into consideration; many professionals have felt that the importance and value of foster care is not being recognised in the light of the Adoption campaign. Foster care plays a significant role in affording vulnerable children stable and nurturing family homes whilst maintaining their relationships with their own birth families.
