How many of us really felt ready to leave home at 18? How many left, then returned once we realised how hard it is to set up home on your own?? Well, this is the reality for many foster children, only 1 in 20 remain in foster care past the age of 18! Pretty worrying when you realise that the average age to leave home is 24 years. The Fostering Network have launched a new campaign ‘Don’t Move Me’, which calls on the Government to change the law to allow foster children to remain in placement until the age of 21 and receive much needed support during the transition to adulthood.
