Fostering in Derbyshire

Fostering Derbyshire 1

Live in Derbyshire and need advice on fostering? Foster agencies are always searching for new foster carers to help place children and young people in foster homes within their local area. We can help put you in touch with the right agency for you!

Why not give something back?

Derbyshire has a population of over 770,000 people, yet almost 10,000 foster carers are still urgently needed across the UK alone. Derbyshire is a beautiful county with the Peak District National Park and the Pennine hills. Derbyshire homes are urgently needed for Derbyshire children. Why not give something back to the community and make that step today?!

Who can foster?

People from all walks of life can become foster carers and provide local homes for local children. If you can provide high quality, safe care for a young person who needs short or long term care or a short break then why not consider becoming a foster carer? You don’t have to have super powers! Don’t listen to the myths! Like any parent, foster carers come from all walks of life and can be married or single, young or old, in full time work or unemployed.

What support will I receive?

There are many different types of foster placements. Each child is unique and every case is different. You can decide what suits you and your family best and your foster agency will work with you do this. Fostering is certainly not an overnight decision but it is a fulfilling career with many emotional rewards and you will receive a generous financial package too (£20,000 to £60,000 depending on the number of placements). You will receive support day and night and will become part of a close team of people working together to provide the best for the child or young person in your care.
You will be fully supported every step of your fostering journey and most importantly, you’ll make a big difference to the life of someone who needs you. As a foster carer you can help offer the support and care needed to develop their identity, confidence and self-esteem.
