All fostered children are the legal responsibility of the local authority.
Local authorities recruit foster carers to offer placements to the many children who come into the Care System. However, where is not possible to place children in Local Authority Foster Care either due to the specialist needs of the child or just because of the vast shortages of foster carers, the local authority will contact independent fostering agencies to help place a child.
Over 9,000 foster carers are needed throughout the UK to offer stable family homes to children who can’t live with their birth family. At Fostering Connections we work with both Local Authorities and Independent Fostering Agencies to increase the number of people applying to become Foster Carers.
