Free bikes for fostering families in Derbyshire

Foster parents and their family and children are entitled to free bike hire for one day from the centre at Middleton Top, near Matlock. This is for those registered with Derbyshire County Council.

Kevin Gillott, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Our foster carers do a wonderful job for the children they care for and we are always looking for ways to thank them.”

Andy Botham, Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said: “Middleton Top is a fantastic place to enjoy the wonderful Derbyshire countryside and our foster families will be able to enjoy miles of traffic-free trails.”

Located on the High Peak Trail, Middleton Top, has a wide choice of bikes to cater for most ages and abilities including towing buggies and tandems. You can use the bikes on the local High Peak Trail which is a lovely 17 mile trail leading from High Peak Junction, near Cromford all the way to Dowlow, near Buxton.

  • Generous allowances and fees including additional payments for taking your fostered child/children on holiday, for Christmas and other activities.
